“Disco Inferno” is a song by the American soul-disco band The Trammps. It was written by Ron Kersey and Leroy Green in 1976 and released as part of the band’s same-named album No. 4 “Disco Inferno”. It is believed that the funky song was inspired by the blockbuster “The Towering Inferno”. At various periods, the composition enjoyed various amounts of popularity, but it never left the upper part of the most prestigious U.S. Billboard Charts like Hot 100 or Dance Club Songs. In 1999, “Disco Inferno” got a Grammy nomination and in 2005 it became one of the compositions to enter the Dance Music Hall of Fame. Two major covers of the piece can be marked: version by Tina Turner for the soundtrack of “What’s Love Got to Do with it” and Cyndi Lauper’s interpretation for the “A Night at Roxbury” soundtrack. The list of movies, TV shows, video games and sporting events where the song was used is impressive. Other popular singles by The Trammps include “That’s Where the Happy People Go”, “Disco Party”, “Mighty High” and others.
