Frédéric Chopin
Romantic
Born in 1810 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland, died in 1849 in Paris, France.
Frédéric Chopin was born on March 1 1810 in Zelazowa Wola in Masovia, the duchy of Warsaw. His father Nicolas was a Frenchman who had moved to Poland in 1787. Frédéric’s mother, Justyna Krzyzanowska was a distant cousin of a countess
Despite of Chopin’s very short life time, his unique genius left us a priceless musical heritage, which has immortalized his name forever. His musical talent was revealed very early, so that he was called child prodigy and often compared with Mozart. The highly emotional and intense Frederic was cherished by his parents who did everything in their power to develop his musical abilities. His outstanding piano skills confused many piano teachers admitting that they just can’t teach him anything else. Thereafter he became an enthusiastic piano teacher himself, but of course it were his achievements as virtuoso performer and composer that brought world fame to this great Polish musician living in alienation from his fatherland and longing for Poland until the end of his days.
His complete musical oeuvre consists almost solely of piano chamber music excepting two concerts for piano and orchestra. A number of polonaises and ballads, inspired with touching love and nostalgia for Poland, his self-reflexive sonatas, sophisticated etudes, melodious waltzes and lyrical nocturnes – all these and many other works by Chopin are fairly considered the greatest masterpieces of the world piano music.
We are proud to offer you a rich collection of Chopin’s works including 2166 sheet music files plus 737 pieces available for free download. Right after the download, you can print the score out and enjoy performing.
