“Dancing Barefoot” is a song by the American singer, songwriter, poet and artist Patti Smith. It was written by Patti together with Ivan Král, a Czech-born composer. The song was released in 1979 as part of Patti’s album “Wave”. It is a dedication to such women as Jeanne Hébuterne, a French artist and the loyal mistress/wife in common-law of the famous artist Modigliani who threw herself with an unborn baby out of the window in despair after his death. “Dancing Barefoot” has been covered numerous times, the most popular cover being recorded by “Shakespeares Sister”.

Dancing Barefoot is the rock song embodying what real rock ballad should be, to me. One of the pieces that sounds equally amazing, in any of the manifold interpretations that followed Patti's original version.

eine klasse rockige Ballade aus den 70ern, nicht von ungefähr von U2 gecovert. die Stimme von Patti Smith ist etwas absolut Ungewöhnliches und Auffallendes - tiefe, dunkle und kraftvolle, einfach toll!
