“Shape of My Heart” is a popular soft/pop rock song by one of England’s most famous rock musicians Sting (Gordon Sumner). It was written in 1993 and released as the 10th track on Sting’s 4th album titled “Ten Summoner’s Tales” that was later nominated for 6 Grammies. “Shape of My Heart” was as well released as a single and charted in the UK. Many would recognize the composition after Luc Besson’s film “Léon”. It was also used in the British TV series Hustle. The backing track of the song became really popular for others: a lot of musicians used it in their own compositions. Among them, Nas, Carl Thomas, Craig David, Sugarbabes and other artists.

I think I'm not the only one who grew to like Sting's Shape of My Heart after watching Leon back in 1994. The movie itself impressed me so much and the music seemed to be a major part of that impression. As a pianist I concentrated on the piano melody of course, it's flowing so smoothly that if you played the composition a few times on end no one would notice the transition. But it only now struck me that the piece can also boast of a splendid guitar riff (presumably written by Dominic Miller). This little change of perception made me look at the song from a different angle and I'm trying to tweak the guitar part for a few days already :)
