Hubay’s Morceau de Concert was written for viola and orchestra although it is most often performed in recital with piano. Its dedication reads to Francois August Gaevaert who was serving as the Director of the Brussels Conservatory where, at the time, Hubay was the violin professor. The solo part is very demanding which include quick, virtuosic passages with tender, lyrical ones. This will serve well both as a recital piece and/or a competition piece. Thank you for looking.
