“Prelude” T.101 (Op. 232) also known as “Leyenda” or “Asturias” is a classic example of misnaming by the publisher of Albéniz’ music. The style is clearly of Andalucia and not the northern state of Asturias. Previous guitar editions have further confused with markings, rewritings and interpretations far from the piano score.

If someone of you has ever read about or visited that unique town in the middle of Spain, you would realize why Isaac Albeniz had the inspiration to create this piece. I bought this composition to perform on my piano, though my best friend’s playing guitar – and the piece has been transcribed for it as well. You know, we are still arguing on which instrument it sounds better =)
