“The Pippin” is a ragtime composition by an Afro-American composer and performer Arthur Marshall. He was a protégé of the famous ‘King of ragtime writers’ Scott Joplin who greatly favoured Arthur’s music career. Despite the hard times for people like Arthur Marshall (the piece was written in 1908), due to Scott Joplin’s patronage he did a few successful collaborations with Joplin and produced several solos, “The Pippin” being among them. This ragtime composition is also called “Sentimental Rag”.

Hm, ragtime music might be my next performer's interest. This piece doesn't seen to advanced to handle, gotta give it a try.

What a lucky find!! I thought I'd get it nowhere( Arthur Marshall's scores should be published more and be made more available to the public! His lovely rags are so overlooked unfortunately( The Pippin in particular, not talking about the recordings
