This is the version of “Wild Is the Wind” as recorded by David Bowie, the famous English singer-songwriter and the legend of British rock music. The original song was written by Ned Washington and Dimitri Tiomkin and recorded for the 1957 film of the same name by Johnny Mathis. Due to the immense popularity of the song, many covers appeared, including the one by Bowie. He recorded the album version in 1976 and the single followed in 1981. “Wild Is the Wind” is on two Bowie’s albums – “Station to Station” & “Changestwobowie”. In 2000, a live recording of Bowie’s performance of the song was also made by BBC Radio Theatre. Other artists who covered “Wild Is the Wind” include Nina Simone, Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson, Cat Power, Barbara Streisand, Esperanza Spalding and others.

Bowie's version of Wild Is the Wind is definitely a favourite of mine among the numerous covers recorded for this wonderful composition. It has the needed extent of the intensity and it's so fun to perform on piano. The sheet music seems to be done very accurately and the chords are a big plus here, thanks for that. I think I should also try to play it on guitar solo, the composition's music pattern seems to be very suitable for that
