“The Prayer” is a popular song written by the team of co-authors Carole Bayer Sager, David Foster, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis. It is most known as a duet of the famous Italian operatic singer Andrea Bocelli and Canadian singer Celine Dion. The song was originally written for the 1998 American film-musical “Quest for Camelot” but was also released as a single that appears both on Dion’s “These Are Special Times” and Bocelli’s “Sogno”. Dion-Bocelli version was highly praised by the critics and received a Golden Globe award in 1999 and had two nominations for a Grammy. It is believed to be the most well-known interpretation of the song, though numerous artists tried to cover this heartwarming composition too. Among them – Anthony Callea, Russell Watson, Katherine Jenkins, Donnie McClurkin and Charlotte Church. Another successful version of “The Prayer” was made in 1999 when Celine Dion performed the song with a young talented singer Josh Groban who replaced Bocelli at the Grammy ceremony. Lovely lovely piece to be played at Christmas time ! So moving and emotionally charged in the original duo. It is great that this arrangement, although slightly simplified does not lose the sense of the piece and captures the essential mood. I also love that the Prayer is double-sided in style and can be performed equally good both for church services and for secular purposes.

A very smooth and flowing melody and deep emotive lyrics. We love singing The Prayer in our female choir during the church services as it is quite appropriated for these purposes. Happy with this arrangement, so easy to read and follow!
