This continues a series of arrangements for various instruments with piano accompaniment
of my Folksong Snapshots
This sixth piece - The Scottish banana - is an invented folk song (ie my own rather than traditional)
about a banana just before it is dunked into boiling oil
to make banana fritters in the Scottish fashion.
The ornamental acacciaturas, bagpipe like drones and Scottish Snaps all lend to the atmosphere.
This is the sixth of seven pieces for the same combinations of instruments
for each of my "Folksong Snapshots"
The complete series comprises:
1. Gilderoy
2. Bobby Shaftoe
3. David of the White Rock
4. Hunting the Hare
5. I have a bonnet
6. The Scottish banana
7. A Hoe-Down in The Ash Grove

The original Folksong snapshots, for flute and guitar and for clarinet and guitar can be found at:

"Mock traditional" British folk song for clarinet and guitar.
This is also part of a suite, which is available as a set of 7 movements called "Folksong Snapshots" at
http://www.musicaneo.com/sheetmusic/sm-69260_complete_set.html#69260
The Scottish banana is an original tune in Scottish style inspired partly by the idea that the Scots enjoy deep-fried Mars bars and deep-fried bananas (don't we all?).

This is a new comic song about deep-fried bananas based on the Scottish Banana tune in my various instrumental "Folk Song Snapshots"
There are several versions of this song:
Voice and piano (versions in A minor, D minor and E minor)
Voice and guitar chords (versions in A minor, D minor and E minor)
and
Voice and classical guitar (A minor)
The sound sample here is the composer singing the words (in A minor)
A video of the voice part a cappella can be enjoyed here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sblGsCyKJ68

The pdf file contains the sample and all versions in A Minor, D minor and E minor

Here are the lyrics:

Young Hamish he went out to buy him some chips
and ordered a haddock and good saucy dips
His eyes then did wander and he licked his lips
'Cause he'd spotted a Scottish banana

"Och aye! that'll do me!
The deep fried banana's just right for my tea!"
So Hamish he emptied his wallet right there
and all for the Scottish banana.

Now everyone knows deep fried food does you good
Provided you have a wee apple for pud
But Hamish just kept all that under his hood
Preferring his Scottish banana.

"Och aye! that'll do me!
Cos deep fried bananas are all I can see!"
So Hamish he picked up his package of food
including the Scottish banana.

Young Hamish went home now with all of his haul
Sat down on the sofa with TV and all
He opened the package and started to bawl
There was fish and chips but no banana!

"Och nay! I'll check where I went
It surely was stolen by some passing gent
Or else it escaped while my money was spent
Oh where is my Scottish banana?"

But Hamish just couldn't account for his loss
He looked in the heather, he looked in the moss
He questioned a passing great white albatross
But nary a sign of banana!

"Oh nay, where can it be?
Bananas don't vanish, bananas don't flee!"
So Hamish he turned and then quite suddenly
He slipped on his Scottish banana!
