This is a setting for 4 a cappella women's choir in contemporary style but with moments that echo the medieval poetry written by the italian poet Jacopone da Todi (1236-1306). Italians now tend to rewrite and pronounce medieval Italian in a modern style. Core is the equivalent to today's Cuore, but is sung Co-re. Other instances have been modified to render the text comprehensible. The text and translation are included in the file. The sound sample is computer produced. This piece was contributed to a composition competition in Arezzo, 1988 but has never been performed.
