"Autumn Colours, Autumn Leaves " is one of a series of
pieces I wrote for solo instruments. I wanted to write a
musical description of Autumn, and the oboe seemed the right
instrument for this venture. The first movement uses various
musical colours to create the Autumn atmosphere, the second
movement is a musical picture of Autumn winds and falling
leaves. The piece ends with a faint whispering tone which
varies in pitch by using quater tones. This resembles the
coming of the cold winter months.
