Die „Trois mouvements pour Flûte et Piano“ entstanden in den Jahren 1934/35: das Andante im Januar 1935 (JA 73), das Allegretto con grazia (JA 74) im August 1934 und das Allegro vivace (JA 73A) 1935. Alains Schwester, Marie-Claire Alain, veröffentlichte 1975 eine Bearbeitung für Orgel und Flöte (JA 74C).
