This is a setting for a cappella 4 voiced Female choir and soloist of the popular Spiritual written by slaves before the Civil War. The brief recording provided is from a video clip of an improvised recording as my choir waited for a flight in the Bilboa airport a few years back.

This is a lively upbeat jazzy version of the famous Spirtual. It has great contrasts in dynamics with a very effective, unaccompanied verse in the middle. The lines for the singers are always tuneful and rhythmical, with some passages slightly difficult. Together with the interesting piano accompaniment, the vocals combine to make this a version which will appeal to all.
