This is an avante garde piece that makes heavy use of quarter tones. This is probably why string players run when they hear my name.

I do not intend to pick on the string section, but strings have the ability to play quarter tones without and type of instrument modification, so they usually get the quarter tone pieces.

It is interesting to note that this piece becomes so dissonant, that when the quarter tones stop towards the end, it is quite shocking to the ear.

This piece is loosely based upon the apocalypse of St John, with some modern twists. It is not a thesis on scripture as very little is known of the actual meaning of his writings. There is a number which John refers to in his writings which many theologians believe to refer to The Roman Emperor Nero, as it is a translation of his name in Greek. The microchip of course refers to modern times. Many people believe St John's writings to be strictly prophecy rather than a statement in code to the Christians of the time it was written.

What ever you believe as to the scriptures, this makes for a very frightening piece of music. Enjoy as you travel into the surreal world of "Nero and the Microchip."
