“What Wond'rous Love is This?” is a Christian folk hymn and often called a "white spiritual" from the South. Some musicologists think the tune is an 1701 English song. It is arranged here as a string quartet/ensemble on an intermediate level. It would be suitable for middle school, high school, college, and adult string groups and appropriate for any concert venue or religious service. It could be used for contest and festivals. The audio clip is a computer rendering in Finale.

This arrangement, (c) 2013 M Mauldin, of the American Folk Hymn was requested by Mauldin's friend, pianist Robert Donald Haigler, for a service prelude he presented August 4, 2013 at Furman University in South Carolina during a Furman Singers Reunion. The melody was derived from an English popular ballad and first appeared as a hymn in "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion," 1835 (now public domain).
