This piece - intended for the Maestro in the Making event - can be played by children on 3 violins and a cello.
The idea behind this musical game is that each of the children has a chance to be soloist and play the faster notes. That child then then goes back quietly into the slow-note chords and allows another child to shine as soloist. Depending upon the musical ability of each child, the solo parts can also be used as a basis for brief improvisations, which will, of course depend on him/her listening to the surrounding chord. I have marked the solo parts as louder than the surrounding chord, but this will - I hope - come naturally, as each child will want a turn to shine.
The end becomes a bit fraught as the first part tries to take control but everyone wants to be a soloist ... an argument ensues ... and finally the group goes back to the sharing motif.
