Here are the files for my new contemporary styling of "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing." I call it "A Thousand Tongues."
The groove has been slowed down and changed from 3/2 to 4/4. The accompaniment uses contemporary harmonizations and rhythms. The rhythm of the melody has also been altered. I wrote a new melody line in the piece and used the third stanza of "O for a Thousand Tongues" as a bridge.
There are MP3 files for both the vocal version and the flute solo version, but only the vocal version could be uploaded to this website. To hear the flute solo version, send me a request for the file via e-mail.
Here is some information about the song and the files that you might be able to use in helping others find and use this song:
Source for original melody and lyrics: Hymnal Arrangement Info: This slower, meditative piano arrangement works well for accompanying either a vocalist or a flute soloist. The melody can be adapted for performance by other instrumentalists as well. It should be noted that each performer's melody line has a different rhythm pattern for the melody and the two patterns are not written to be used simultaneously. This arrangement will work well for placement in either the prelude or offering time. Themes: The Glory of the Triune God, Praise and Thanksgiving Seasons/Sundays: Any Sunday Scores included in PDF file: Director's Score for flute, voice, piano, and synthesizer.
