This is no.4 of 4 songs (Versant Ouest) with words by the French poetess, Amalthée. It is the lighter of the 4 and describes how a young woman living in the South of France is fed up with being a servant to her husband and father-in-law and decides to run away to Brest. In the middle she has a conversation with her cat (it being the only thing she can talk to!). Eventually, she packs her bags and leaves for a new life in the North, where, she says, should she fall into the arms of a suitable young man, great, but if not, too bad!!
