Carson Cooman - Concerto in modo antico (2011) for recorder (soprano or tenor) and strings

Concerto in modo antico (2011) for recorder and strings was commissioned by and is dedicated to recorderist John Turner. The five movements of the work draw upon stylistic elements of Medieval and Renaissance music. I. Estampie II. Aria III. Echo Gigue IV. Ground (in memoriam Lee Hoiby) V. Estampie da capo Orchestra details: A small string orchestra is suggested. String quintet may be used if necessary (although the first violin part in the second movement will be nearly entirely double stops). Though it is not preferred, the recorder may be discretely amplified if necessary, particularly if using a large string orchestra.

A piano reduction is provided primarily for rehearsal purposes. If absolutely necessary, the work may be performed in concert with piano, although the string scoring is vastly preferred.
