Suite antique (2008) is a set of movements for trumpet and harpsichord drawing upon elements of Medieval and Renaissance music. The work is dedicated to John Wallace.
Three versions of the trumpet part are included to facilitate performance: Trumpet in C (with harpsichord at A=440) Trumpet in Bb (with harpsichord at A=440) Trumpet in C (with harpsichord at A=415) In circumstances where a harpsichord is completely unavailable, the work may be performed with piano. However, this is to be a “last resort” measure only.
I. Estampie II. Aria III. Echo Gigue IV. Ground V. Estampie da capo
