Sardonic darkly humorous setting of the poem by John Heath-Stubbs, permitted in accordance with the contract with David Higham Co Ltd, the holder of the rights of the estate of John Heath-Stubbs. I set this poem for three equal voices. The harmonies are quite close and scrunchy; they represent the throbbing of the toothache in question and the mental effect of it. The sound sample is performed by me. A video of the performance (3 altos), with the words on screen can be found on youtube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRecp1wRZzI === A version for three tenors is also available
