Durban Beaches was written in 2015 for the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and lasts for 5¼ minutes. It is for an orchestra consisting of double woodwinds, 4 horns, 2 each of trumpets and trombones, tuba, timpani, 2 percussion players and strings.

It was inspired by a walk along the Durban beach front, where the beach is divided into a number of sub-sections, each with its own name and character. The music suggests a walk along the promenade and experiencing these different beaches.

The work is essentially a rondo, but the main theme is never repeated exactly, instead it is varied in some way. Even one of the interludes is varied at one point, following on from another interlude. The piece concludes with a joyful coda.
