This is a cheeky Latin samba written primarily for High School/College/University big bands.

The piece has a very accessible tune and form, and should prove equally popular both for dancing to or just listening. It should be relatively easy to play and should only take a moderate amount of rehearsal time to get to performance level. The rhythm section is largely free to ad lib except where indicated. A few passages for particular instruments may require some practice, depending on the level of the player.

The rhythm at the end of the piece is far less tricky than it might first appear. It may be useful for performers to learn these bars by ear.

Although auxiliary percussion is highly recommended in this piece, no part is included as the aux percussion will follow the drum part, the only exception is that aux percussion should start 8 bars into the piece whereas drums after 16 bars as written.

The piece would also work nicely with flutes, who could could double up with the alto saxophones.

I have put a modest price tag on the score, but if you are on a limited budget (or no budget!) then please get in touch with me at michael.roberts@ucl.ac.uk and let me know a little about yourself and your band (just for my interest!) and I will happily send you a copy of the score and parts free of charge.

I do hope you like the piece. Any comments, good or bad, are all very much appreciated.
