Composer Richard Burdick’s More than Sixty-Four Solos for Horn for horn alone, opus 139
This is a sequel to his popular work for solo horn “The Planets, opus 19”
They are studies into Mr. Burdick’s I Ching Scale system, and uses I Ching Scales from 1- 64 plus an extra #19 The number 49- 58 which are used for the planets are all new works.
Each solo is similar in length to such popular horn solo / audition excerpts as the famous Tchaikovsky’s fifth symphony solo.
The 64 pieces are full of challenges but are also really rewarding pieces.
