“Astronaut” is a song by Paul Würdig, a German rapper known as Sido. The song was written in cooperation with his long-time friend, a German pop-singer Andreas Bourani, and was recorded for the rapper’s 6th album titled “VI”. The commercial success of the song was a bit unexpected to Sido, according to his own words. “Astronaut” became the No.1 hit in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, as well one of the most radio-played songs of the year 2015. Sido, who’s normally known for his aggressively provocative lyrics, sounds much softer in “Astronaut” talking about the two extremes– happiness and suffering of a human – in simple words. The song managed to reach many people through its soulful and intimate lyrics.

The real beauty of its song is in its simplicity. I'm talking about both the music score (I virtually learnt 'the draft' in minutes) and most importantly in its lyrics. Even my few years of studying German allowed me to fully enjoy the simple yet deep lyrical message and sing along. I'm sure Astronaut has a richer sound on a guitar (well, the sheet music has the chords too), but I still enjoy playing in on piano.
