Hippolyte Escudié was born in 1816 in Castelnaudary, France and died in Paris in 1881. He wrote four fantaisies for saxophone and piano and a number of works for saxophone and organ, including the six Andantes The first Fantasy is in four sections: an opening arioso with a cadenza, a thème and two variations, an expressive Andante et a final brilliant coda.
