Ange Flégier (1846–1925) was born in Marseilles and also died there. He studied composition with Ambroise Thomas at the Conservatoire in Paris and then became a well-known composer with more than 350 works in his catalogue. Most of his works are concert songs and chamber music pieces. He also worked as a music critic and, later in life, as a painter.
