The title was inspired by Tolkien's tales of the Ents. The composition developed out of and greatly expanded upon a minimalist study for three classical guitars written for the Keene Valley Guitarist/Composers workshop held in the Adirondack Mountains in 2016. However, the current version is for a wind quintet. The audio file was sequenced using the LogicPro DAW.
