"Waterloo Meditation" was composed as a companion piece for the novel "The Sage of Waterloo", published by W.W. Norton in June, 2015 to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. The ancient farmstead of Hougoumont just south of Brussels was a pivotal site during the conflict and has been restored to its pre-battle condition for the commemoration. It was the haunting atmosphere of the old, crumbling farm, however, that inspired this music. Please visit my website for an audio-visual ramble through Hougoumont. Level: intermediate; wide legato chords; varied and sustained sounds. Duration: ca. 2:40
