This particular set of variations was composed on a stirring theme from Rossini’s tragic opera, Mose in Egitto (Moses in Egypt). In the opera, the tune is sung by Moses on the shore of the Red Sea, who prays for deliverance from Pharaoh’s pursuing army; his prayer is triumphantly answered, and the bad guys meet their doom in the water. Requiring many of the same technical acrobatics as Paganini’s other works, this piece makes a great recital finale or encore!
In this cello arrangement I added a few musical easter eggs hidden in the strings's accompaniment. Enjoy this lovely piece!

A very challenging piece composed initially for violin and piano, now in an arrangement original for two cellos. Throughout the piece you will discover quotes from famous pieces by Paganini inserted in praise of the famous violinist and composer.
