Artemis for Solo Piccolo was written for and is dedicated to the Piccolo virtuoso Lior Eitan.
Artemis is the name of the Greek Goddess of Wilderness, Wild Animals and the Hunt. She is often with the Moon. This work begins with a nocturne-like theme which depicts the Goddess in a Moon-lit Forest. The Central Section is a Scherzo which expresses the Hunt. Finally, the initial theme returns to bring the work to a peaceful close.
