"This Burning Sun of Grief and Memory..." was written for and dedicated to
the French Saxophone Trio Trimurti. The work is a further reworking of the
theatre music which the composer wrote for "Nevers", based on the appendix of Marguerite Duras' script for "Hiroshima Mon Amour".
The musical material is based on the central motive of this music, which represents both desire and grief, which are tied together through a veil of remembrance and loss. The work is in several independant sections which are performed without pause, using all three instruments as independent voices in a typical "Trio Sonata" texture. This work could also be seen as a musical expression of performing and preparing the theatre piece, with each of the instruments representing one of the individuals involved in the originaln production.
