Arktos for Solo Oboe was written for and i s dedicated to the French Oboist Delphine Reynaud.
In Greek mythology, Arktos was the one of the Hours, the daughters of Kronos (Time) and was responsable for the last light of the day.
The work is written in an ABA form using two baroque dances, the Sarabande and the Salterello, with the Sarabande returning in a slightly varied form at the end. The work is based on an motif in fourths which is used in both sections.
