If you hear light, soft and airy sounds – it means someone is playing the harp. It’s won my heart lately. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to learn to play the instrument. I got interested in composers for the harp and in the process learned about Albert Zabel and his music. This miniature of his Am Springbrunnen is one of my favourite pieces written by the composer. While listening to it you can keenly sense the image of a fountain, spurts and splashes of water. The music is very soft, flowing and soothing. It sounds light and optimistic. If I were a harpist, I would surely perform it.
