Out of the Bach's Jesu
for chamber orchestra 1111 1100 strings
This is an arrangement that went wrong. I did a quick version of Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.
I started with a midi file I found on the web and imported it into my Sibelius music notation program. It imported well, and I reworked it for the Regina Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players chamber orchestra.
I checked the harmonies, then realized how much of a genius Bach was to write a work that is completely a 6/8 time melody on a 3/4 time accompaniment. Well . . . I was so impressed by the polyrhythms that I never checked back with the original score to see that the 3/4 time melody was wrong and I never listened to the work more that just for harmonies to realize that it might be wrong.
I took it to rehearsal and the musicians could NOT play it! I found this very interesting and so it is now my own unique variation with my title "Out of the Bach's Jesu", Op. 237a by Richard Burdick
