Using words from the early liturgical dramas as set out in the Winchester Troper, this setting is of the conversation between the angels and the women at the tomb on the day of Christ's resurrection. With a slight liberty, I have set the angels' voices for the ladies to sing (SSAA) but the human response is in the men's voices (TBarB). Another liberty is to suggest that the Angels' response "He is not here. He is risen as foretold" must also be the message of Christians everywhere and in all times. Hence, we end on a glorious three-octave, seven-part ascending scale representing the resurrection in music. One for the more advanced choirs, but not difficult as such. An obvious choice for Easter or for concert use.
