This piece is about Music being like an angel, our soul mate, and our help, at all times.
It came about, after I was told a story by a pupil, whose daughter, living at the other side of the world, had not been in the best of health. I was told that whilst on holiday with family in Tasmania, they had visited some beautiful caves. The tour guide had said that when he put the lights out, so they may experience true darkness, would any one like to sing. Of course, no one volunteered ! He put out the light, and this person's caught, a shy quiet person, sang "Amazing Grace" in the darkness. I am told she has a beautiful voice. A lone voice in the darkness: music, soothing in the darkness; music helping someone in need - I found the story so touching, I immediately sat and wrote this piece.....
It was for solo mezzo, but has now been arranged for SATB (this version) TTBB and TTBB with mezzo solo throughout.

vocal range: middle C to F above middle C Most of it sits at the lower end of this range.
It was for solo mezzo. There are also choral arrangements of this piece.
