A setting of the poem "Sonett XXIII" (from Sonnets to Orpheus) by R.M. Rilke, for solo voice (without any accompaniment). The inspiration for the piece came from Morton Feldmans setting of the same poem, but in english translation ("Only"). You are free to transpose the score and to sing it as a Vocalise (without text).

O erst dann, wenn der Flug
nicht mehr um seinetwillen
wird in die Himmelstillen
steigen, sich selber genug,
um in lichten Profilen,
als das Gerät, das gelang,
Liebling der Winde zu spielen,
sicher, schwenkend und schlank, -
erst, wenn ein reines Wohin
wachsender Apparate
Knabenstolz überwiegt,
wird, überstürzt von Gewinn,
