The second of my Fantazies for the violone in G solo. It was written on the celebrated Barbarian theme from Heroes of Might and Magic video game composed by Paul A. Romero. The piece is dedicated to my great friend Brock H. Summers. Playing it, the modern performer may easily notice the scarceness of dynamic and articulation signs. Yet this doesn’t mean to play the music without any musical nuances. Genuinely in the opposite.
It is deliberate and is meant to give the performer great freedom to benefit from, like in days of yore, allowing to use ideas and variety of interpretations they like. Hence the name Fantasia.
