The piece was completed on May 9th. Playing it, the modern performer may easily notice the scarceness of dynamic and articulation signs. Yet this doesn’t mean to play the music without any musical nuances. Genuinely in the opposite. It is deliberate and is meant to give the performer great freedom to benefit from, like in days of yore, allowing to use ideas and variety of interpretations they like. Hence the name Fantasia.
