Jazz-toccata belongs to the category of short virtuoso piano pieces which ask from the performer a high level of technical ability. The piece is determined by a strong temperament and virtuosity which arises from rythmnical patterns inspired by jazz music and neoclassical style of Igor Stravinsky. It is built in three parts – begins in medias res, by motorical thematic motif which is accompanied by syncopated rhythms, while the middle part presents the short peaceful, yet misterious episode with quasi-improvised chords. The final section is a sort of recapitulation of the beginning and brings the work to the effective ending.
