Sonata for alto saxophone and piano has been written in summer 2005., as a result of my researching various possibilities of incorporating elements of jazz into classical music body. The sound of saxophone, which has always been a point of great artisitc inspiration and attraction to me, I found as a perfect choice to create piece that would combine those elements. I created it in three movements, shaping the piece in a quite traditional sonata-form, using tonal music language, where the jazz elements come through as a sort of broader sound inspiration. The piece, lasting 11 minutes, gives a lot of space to show various performer's qualities - both saxophonist's and pianist's; from atmospheric, melancholic moods, to expressive tone timbres and after all, virtuoso technical skills.
NB: The file contains a full piano score and a saxophone solo part.
