One of the earliest known hymns in the English language -- both the tune and the text are attributed to Saint Godric, circa 1100 -- in a straight-ahead arrangement for a choir or small ensemble of equal voices. The original Middle English text (as found in a contemporary MS in the British Library), a phonetic version, and a close rendering into Modern English for singing are all provided.
