"Lightning shines over the Tatras" - the anthem of Slovakia. The song appeared in 1844, during the march of students of the Evangelical Lutheran Lyceum from Bratislava to Levoča in protest against the arrest of their teacher Ludovit Stur. The text was written by Janko Matuszka, and the melody of the folk song "Digging a well, looking at it" ("Kopala studienku") was taken as music. However, despite its popularity during the Slovaks' performance in the revolution of 1848-1849, the song was published only in 1851 under the title "Volunteer". In 1993 it became the anthem of independent Slovakia. Arranged for Guitar by Andrey Shilov (Pajarillo).
