Not all trolls are made of stone, and not all trolls are dim-witted beasts. Some haunt the wilds still, rarely if ever seen by people, but holding to the old ways. In the highlands, far above where people go, dragons still live. They can be seen sometimes, scales shining dully against the rock, breath gently steaming in the cold air. To trolls, dragon eggs are sacred and sought after. Only the bravest of trolls will sneak into the cave systems that form a dragon's lair, searching for their prize.

Hunters' Moon is an exciting and original work of program music for string orchestra, with glockenspiel and bowed vibraphone (or synthesiser). In three movements it tells the story of aband of brave trolls, with drama, excitement, and tragedy. The second movement features solo players from each section, as well as the tutti orchestra.

I. Into the Caves
The trolls make their way into the cave, looking for dragon eggs. But wait! Mother Dragon is awake, and is angry. Poor Snargrahl.

II. The Lost
Snargrahl's mortal remains have been removed from the caves. The remaining trolls sit around the fire and sing ballads in remembrance.

III. For Snargrahl
Back for the egg! For Snargrahl!
