Dieser Satz ist völlig frei im Tempo zu spielen, das Rubato, die ganze Agogik bestimmte der ausführende Cellist. Die Metronomangabe ist nur ein mittlerer Anhaltspunkt. Das Klangbeispiel ist unvollkommen, da das Notenprogramm nur sehr eingeschränkt "musikalisch" spielen kann.
