Etude 1 "Éclat"
A flamboyant piece similar to Etude No. 2 in its lively character, both works keeping the performer occupied with a barrage of notes. Semiquaver passages accompany sparkling chords that streak down the keyboard. Rapid figurations in both hands contrast with leaping chords. The whole atmosphere is one of exuberance and joy, prompting the title, "Éclat". A fun piece to play but quite a challenge!
Etude 2 "The Sea"
This piece is dominated by grand arpeggios, rising and falling over octaves in the depths of the keyboard. It is a fun and lively study to work on.
Etude 3 "Nocturne"
This is the longest of the set, a tapestry of sounds rarely rising above a forte dynamic marking. Filigree semiquavers merge into chord and octave passages and rise again to the highest register, the left hand providing a fairly constant accompaniment. A fun and rewarding piece to learn.
All three pieces were recorded by the composer.
