La Boda de Luis Alonso 1897 and its predecessor El Baile de Luis Alonso are two of the most beloved zarzuelas of the Spanish repertoire. The “Intermedio” presented here is an arrangement from the orchestral score of the instrumental section of the opera. I was approached by my friend and wonderful flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes to make an arrangement for two guitars that he could perform with a dancer. This is a common choreography in the classical Spanish dance repertoire. After I made the arrangement I discovered that my teacher in Spain, Luis Maravilla, had made an arrangement which unfortunately may be out of print. I offer two publications fully notated for two guitars and a version of the same that includes tablature that may interest flamenco guitarists.
