This chorale "Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier" must have been close to the heart of the great Bach, because in addition to the Tonsatz there are 3 different chorale versions in the Orgelbüchlein: BWV 633, BWV 634 and BWV 706.
In the Holy Week it occurred to me to make my version of this chorale.
And on Easter Monday, the day of the death of Pope Francis, it was ready.
As a tribute to his pontificate but especially to this man who, following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, knew how to touch hearts and inspire many - sublimely summarized in his Easter message the day before - I have dedicated this version to his memory.
The text of the first stanza reads in resp. German and English: "Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier, dich und dein Wort anzuhören, lenke Sinnen und Begier auf die süssen Himmelslehren, dass die Herzen von der Erden ganz zu dir gezogen werden."- "Dearest Jesus, we are here to listen to you and your word, direct our minds and desire the sweet teachings of heaven, so that the hearts of the earth may be drawn completely to you."
